I always envision people asking me how do I get to my point. That is my narcissistic self to be blamed. Oh well, might as well put it here.
In short, I don’t know. I find it confusing. I never actually thought I would have made it this far. I suppose it’s not actually far. People greatly exaggerate FAANG’s engineer. Caused by sequence of events I suppose. If I have to list the sequence of events in order, it would be this:
- I learned programming when I was 14 years old. That makes programming easy.
- I went to UIA, which at that time have a good Competitive Programming team. I got into Competitive Programming. Competitive Programming is not exactly practical, but it makes interview into such big tech company easy.
- I worked with Abi Dzar at Petronas ICT which is a relatively big name, which probably caused the Grab recruiter to contact me.
- I got into Grab which is another big name, which probably caused the Amazon recruiter to contact me.
- Here I am.
Wow that is… a short list. Took a span of 14 years from 1 to 5. 1 to 2 take like 9 to 10 year. Could have cut that down to 6. I always regretted that period. But without those, 3 to 5 probably could not have happened. 3 to 5 only take 4 years. This feels drastic.
